My mixed media works emerge from play between the representational and the abstract, structure and impulse, dissonance and harmony.
I build my work in layers of found images and objects, paper, paints, inks, beeswax and photographic transfers, guided by the impact of each ingredient of the composition upon the others. I pay attention to movement in a piece, using it as a means to create unity out of disparate parts.
I let a piece unfold, without a prior vision of what it will look like when it is done. Creating becomes a process of discovery.
