A painter of still-life and landscapes, Lorrie’s paintings
express a life-long creative disposition, and keen fascination
and talent for handwork. Lorrie
lives in Wenham, MA with her husband Michael. Her paintings seek
to capture the peace and serenity of her subject matter. During
winter months she focuses on still-life painting, and enjoys painting
en plein-air in more temperate seasons, in particular the land
and seascapes of the Cape Ann area.
Lorrie’s style employs
soft, warm tones to evoke the peacefulness of her subject matter.
With experience, her palette has begun to embrace brighter, more
vivid colors to achieve the tonality and visual interest she seeks.
With landscape work, she strives to evoke the atmosphere of the
day, and employs minimal brush strokes to leave the rest to the
viewer’s imagination. Lorrie has studied drawing and pastel
at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, MA, and color theory and
drawing at the Boston Architectural Center. Lorrie currently paints
with noted artist Carleen Muniz, and has also studied with Rockport
artists Ron Straka, Jeff Weaver, Dave Curtis, Zyg Jankowski, Don
Stone, Bruce Turner, John Flynn and Bob Blue.
Lorrie is an exhibiting
member with the Rocky Neck Art Association, the Guild of Beverly
Artists, and an associate member with the North Shore Art Association
and the Rockport Art Association. Her work has been exhibited at
the Rockport Art Association, the Beverly Arts Festival, Buker
School in Wenham, and the Beverly Library, and she was awarded
a 1st Place, a 2nd Place, and an Honorable Mention at Guild of
Beverly Artists exhibitions. In 2006 she was juried in to exhibit
at the Deval Patrick Inaugural Celebration at Merrimac College
in Andover.
