Joyce Frederick ~ Oil/Watercolor
website: joycefrederick.com
Joyce Frederick loved painting and drawing as a child.
Her interest in art is probably inherited from her forebear, Sebastien
Bourdon, the 17th century French artist who has paintings in the
Louvre Museum in Paris. As a teenager, Joyce attended the Boston
Museum of Fine Arts after-school program.
When it came to choosing
a career, like many woman of her era, Joyce chose a more utilitarian
career and became a Registered Nurse. She has worked as a Nurse
all her professional life. Even while nursing and raising her four
children she continued her study of art.
She has studied with many
local and internationally renown artists, in classes and workshops,
in studios and plein air. She has recently studied portrait painting
with Boston artist, Robert Cormier. Joyce is an active member of
the Dunstable Artisans and participates in their annual show and
sale every October.
Joyce paints on location as well as in her
studio in Dunstable, MA. She does commissioned work as well as
painting her favorite subjects - her grandchildren, flowers from
her garden, animals, and people and places she encounters in her
world-wide travels.
