How to become a member

The Rocky Neck Gallery, a co-operative run by the Rocky Neck Art Colony, is accepting applications from artists in all media for the summer season (May 22 to October 12). Returning artists must submit application by April 1. New artists must submit application by May 1 and three original pieces of work for jurying on May 16. Upon acceptance, the artist is required to join the Rocky Neck Art Colony; dues are $100 per year.

Artists accepted to the Rocky Neck Gallery may have up to four exhibit units (2 horizontal feet per unit) for the season at a cost of $25 per unit per month ($125 per unit for 5-month season) and are required to gallery sit for two hours per week*. Two-dimensional artists may sell also unframed shrink-wrapped work and cards in the gallery. There is a 25% commission on work sold.

*Artists may ask family-members or friends to help with gallery sitting and/or trade with other artists to pool sitting time.

2009 Deadlines (2010 deadlines will be posted in Oct or Nov 2009):

  • May 1: application due (download application form).
  • Saturday, May 16: new artists submit work for jurying; drop off at Rocky Neck Gallery, 53 Rocky Neck Ave between (12 to 4 pm).
  • Sunday, May 17: returning artists drop-off/check in work and jury new artists (1 to 3 pm)
  • Monday, May 18: notification of accepted new members
  • Tuesday, May 19: new members submit work for hanging and pay fees, or pick up work not accepted.
