Janice Owen Toth ~ Watercolor, Jewelry
website: webpages.charter.net/jan-toth/index.html
I have always loved to paint, and have worked with
watercolor and oil paints for most of my career. Over time, I've
developed other interests in pastel and pencil drawing, and have
studied jewelry and fabric design. I have a line of hand-crafted
collage cards that reflect my interest with natural forms.
I'm
currently exhibiting work in several location, including the Bryan
Gallery in Gloucester, the Rhode Island Watercolor Society; the
Sharon Arts Center, Peterborough, N.H.; Noa Gifts, Groton; and
Handworks Gallery in Acton. I received two Mass. Cultural Council
Artists Grants to teach summer arts programs and, on occasion,
I teach art in community settings and from my studio.
An ideal
day is when I can set up an easel outdoors to paint a landscape,
a garden or beach scene. I also work in the studio with still life
subjects and portraits. The four seasons has become a favorite
theme in my work, and the area I live in offers beautiful winter
scenes, especially when the sun comes out after a snow storm.
Some of the organizations I belong to are the Dunstable
Artisans, the Rhode Island Watercolor Society, and the Rocky Neck
Art Colony.
