Works for 40 Under 40 were selected by Lydia Gordon, Associate Curator for Exhibitions and Research at the Peabody Essex Museum, from a call to North Shore artists under the age of 40.
RNAC is thrilled to present this compelling array of works by 30 artists reflecting a diversity of mediums and subject matter. Melding traditional modes of artmaking with experimental techniques and unconventional materials, these emerging artists suggest productive ways of making sense from chaos and for venturing into the unknown. Collectively, the works in the exhibition offer a vision for the future infused with continuity, expansiveness, and hope.
Committed to nurturing excellence in the arts, RNAC embraces the opportunity to amplify the voices of up-and-coming artists through exposure, encouragement, and fellowship. Related programs including artist talks, performances, and professional development workshops, made possible through a generous grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, will accompany the exhibition.
At a time when many of the traditional means of support for artists are faltering, Rocky Neck Art Colony has strengthened its resolve to support and celebrate the arts and to secure the organization’s legacy in order to benefit artists into the future.
